New Weight Loss Treatment Recommended by the FDA

At our weight loss clinic in Dallas, TX, we offer Semaglutide, which is the new FDA-approved weight loss medication that behaves like a naturally occurring hormone in your body to reduce your appetite and curb cravings to aid in losing unwanted weight. Studies have shown that Semaglutide reduces appetite, improves self-control when eating, reduces food cravings, and improves glycemic control. In fact, studies show that Semaglutide is more than twice as effective than any other FDA-approved medication for weight loss. It’s believed the weight loss results with Semaglutide tend to last longer than results achieved by other methods. Semaglutide use showed higher body fat loss along with a greater reduction in waist measurement, belly fat, and BMI. The majority of Semaglutide patients experienced weight loss of at least 15% of their body weight, although many people lost more than 20%. This medication is gaining popularity with its impressive results.

What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist. This peptide is an analog of a protein our body naturally produces to help prevent sugar spikes after meals by improving insulin production. Semaglutide is used to treat type 2 diabetes but has recently been approved by the FDA to help manage weight, along with diet and exercise, in overweight adults with other risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, etc. If your cravings are controlled and you feel fuller, you will be less likely to overeat, which will help you achieve and maintain a healthier weight. Life is all about balance, and that is especially true when it comes to diet. What we put in our bodies matters, but sometimes it feels like our hormones are working against us. With Semaglutide, your body will become more balanced and controlled and will also experience an improvement in efficiency with burning unwanted fat. Semaglutide is used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death in patients with type 2 diabetes, vascular disease, and/or heart disease. Why Choose Semaglutide

Benefits & How it Works

Semaglutide mimics an endogenous hormone in the human body called GLP-1. This hormone is integrally linked to the operation of the stomach, liver, and pancreas, as well as to the communication between the brain and digestive system. This medication causes a delay in gastric emptying, which makes you feel full longer. It also improves the utilization of blood glucose (sugar), which aids in burning carbohydrates for energy rather than storing them as fat, increases leptin sensitivity, which causes your body to preferentially burn body fat for a longer period of time, and changes natural brain chemistry, which directly reduces appetite. Semaglutide distinguishes itself by targeting fat loss through many distinct pathways while maintaining an established safety profile that sets it apart as the superior approach to safe and effective weight loss. The many benefits include:

About Semaglutide

Administration & Side Effects

Semaglutide is injected under the skin, once weekly at any time of day, with or without food, and should be injected on the same day each week.  Semaglutide is generally well-tolerated. The most common side effects are GI symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, headache, fatigue, decreased appetite, and/or dizziness, most often due to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).  These symptoms may occur when the dose is increased, but often improve or go away after a few days. Although semaglutide by itself usually does not cause hypoglycemia, blood sugar can be affected by stress, illness, alcohol use, surgery, and skipping meals.  Hypoglycemia can make you feel very hungry, dizzy, irritable, or shaky, along with a rapid heartbeat and/or tingling hands or feet. Semaglutide should not be used in patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Is Semaglutide Right for Me?

If you are struggling with healthy eating habits, Semaglutide is an excellent option for losing weight. Whether you deal with cravings or binge eating, this medication can help regulate your appetite by reducing hunger and cravings and increasing the feeling of being full so you eat appropriate portion sizes. It also helps the body to utilize sugar for energy and burning fat. Semaglutide provides weight loss results two times more effective than other approaches and is quickly becoming the most prescribed weight loss medication.

When Can I Expect to Lose Weight With Semaglutide?

Each body reacts and responds differently to a new medication. With Semaglutide, some people begin to see results within the first few weeks, experiencing a decrease in appetite and losing up to 20 lbs. a month. Others may see results after a few months of use, but it is usually significant. The factor that really determines the rate of your success is how quickly and effectively you tolerate the medicine as the dose is gradually increased. Once you are on the full dose, that is when you can expect to see the most significant and noticeable weight loss.

How Often is Semaglutide Taken?

The Semaglutide injections are administered subcutaneously just under the skin with a tiny needle, much like insulin. This is done once a week at any time of day and can be done with or without food at the time of the injection. One reason why Semaglutide is preferred by both patients and doctors is how easy the dosage administration is and the weight loss results averaging 15-20% of total body weight.

Will I Still See Results if I Don’t Exercise in Conjunction With Taking Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is shown to work without exercise being added to the regimen, but patients will experience better and quicker results if they partake in some form of doctor-recommended exercise appropriate for their level of physical activity. As long as it’s safe and comfortable, you should always try to get your body moving as much as possible to build up stamina and tone muscles, as well as other benefits.
